Stormtrumpers Take Note

I was fixing links in Caveat Emptor today and realized that I had never linked directly to the original material for this video that was referenced under the observation that Trump was a shameless self-promoter. The original content was a Huffington Post piece that was just the video running in an otherwise empty page, and Huffpo is now owned by Verizon and I’m not a fan of Verizon or their expanding empire. The link in Caveat Emptor now points to this article, through the magic of time travel. Traveling three years into the future, with the click of one link. Or, three years into the past, if you click the Caveat Emptor link. How does that happen?

Still Supporting Donald Trump? This Message Is For You – The Resistance with Keith Olbermann – Jan 5, 2017

As I was listening to the audio for the video, while re-editing the rest of the links in the article, links that went to the old blog address, I realized that this video is even more timely now. Timely, now that we are witnessing the potential genocide of the Syrian Kurds, our allies for all the years of the Syrian civil war. Our allies in our vain attempt to see the dictatorship of Bashar al-Assad come to an end.

Vain because Vladimir Putin staked his reputation on Assad and vain because we allowed a dictator to take control of Turkey. A dictator that needed a scapegoat in the Kurdish minority in his own country,a minority that just happened to be taking up arms in revolution in the country next door to his. If only he had a way to get the United States to stop backing these people? Enter the easily manipulated Orange Hate-Monkey, Vladimir Putin’s favorite American president.

Trump has indeed done something irreversibly stupid now, and fixing the problem requires that we get rid of him in a hurry. It’s too bad that Republicans were too chickenshit to stand up to the bully and had to wait for a woman to put the bastard in his place. So, he’ll be impeached, and if we’re lucky he’ll be removed from office right after the Republicans get the balls to remove Moscow Mitch from his seat in the Senate. I’m afraid it will be too late for the Kurds by then though.

Yep. It is just too bad that no one was listening to Keith Olbermann three years ago. Maybe we would have been prepared if they had been.

Gingrich Wasting His Time

Keith Olbermann has done it again, this time lambasting Newt Gingrich for trashing the first amendment in a bid to become the Republican’s next presidential nominee.

“I am not ‘running’ for president,” you told a reporter from Fortune Magazine. “I am seeking to create a movement to win the future by offering a series of solutions so compelling that if the American people say I have to be president, it will happen.”

Newt Gingrich sees in terrorism, not something to be exterminated, but something to be exploited.

MSNBC (via the Wayback Machine)

I hate to break it to this aptly named lizard of a man, but he’s wasting his time. In more ways than one.

He’s wasting his time because the average American, who acts like a bull in the china shop when it comes to demanding government programs, which trash the Constitution, on the one hand; will overwhelmingly reject any proposal that appears to limit their ability to obtain instant gratification, especially one that trashes the parts of the Constitution they want to keep. He might as well have cut his own throat, literally.

Talk about cluelessness when it comes to reading what’s in the wind.

He’s also wasting his time is because the most likely Republican Presidential nominee is someone from the President’s administration. Newt is so far out of favor with the President that I can’t even begin to imagine what sequence of events might end in his being nominated by his party; let alone elected to the presidency.

No, the most likely Republican nominee is still the youngest, highest ranking member of W’s cabinet. And that person is still Condoleeza Rice. Which makes it Rice Vs. Clinton in ’08.

You heard it here first.

Editor’s note, 2019. Hindsight. Hindsight makes so many things clearer. I remember wondering, as we moved in on the 2008 election, before the crash of 2008 which clinched the election for the Democrats, why Dr. Rice didn’t even try for the nomination. She was single-handedly the brightest light in the Bush II presidency. Why wasn’t she even considered as a candidate?

From the perspective of the 2016 election, it all becomes clear. Ah, she was black and she was a woman. In 2006 I hadn’t even heard of the Southern strategy. I didn’t know of Nixon’s betrayal of the historic stances of the GOP and his embracing of white nationalism as a winning strategy. It was the GOP reaction to Barack Obama’s (no-drama Obama) presidency that made me realize just how racist the average Republican really is.

The GOP would never nominate anyone from either of those categories, much less a member of both of them. At least, not before the majority of racist white nationalists that make up the current GOP are smashed in a few elections and they realize that their racism and misogyny really has become a liability that they can no longer afford.

That day cannot come soon enough for me.

Limbaugh Lies: Hoof in Mouth

So, on top of kicking a cripple, attacking Michael J. Fox over his bipartisan support for stem cell research, Limbaugh can add admitting personal stupidity to his list of fumbles for the week.

In his morning soundbite today, he is once again kicking John Kerry for “calling the troops stupid”, as if he and the president didn’t beat that dead horse enough a few days ago.

However, if you didn’t rely on the president’s spin on what was said (and why not? He’s always been truthful when dealing with Kerry in the past, right?) and in fact listened to the entire speech leading up to the statement in question, it becomes quite obvious that Kerry is calling Bush stupid, not the troops. Keith Olbermann has been making great hay with these facts, every day that the White House has chosen to bring this subject up, including asking very pointed questions concerning when Bush was going to apologize to the troops.

It’s been amazing watching how many people want to pile into that camp, and all admit that they are just as stupid as Bush. Average citizens, concerned parents of Iraq veterans, Tony Snow (he used to sub for Limbaugh on occasion. He was an idiot then too) and the rest of the White House staff. Most of the media just parroted the White House insistence that the troops were being insulted, adding their names to the list of “also stupid”.

Limbaugh, as the premiere conservative media propagandist, has also added his name to the list, and now underscored it by continuing to bring it up, days after the story had any legs. I found Kerry’s admission to be quite straightforward. If Limbaugh has a problem with it, it’s because he’s still calling the president (and those who side with him) stupid.

I’m no fan of Kerry’s, and his creating this tempest in a teapot with his botched joke has me wondering if he’s still playing at being Bush’s fall guy. Still, stupid is as stupid does, and the stupid conservatives have completely botched the last 6 years that they’ve held power, and Limbaugh has been their cheerleader throughout. He probably shouldn’t have abused OxyCodone. It seems to have affected his brain as well as his hearing.

Time for the next group of stupid people to enter Washington. They’ll most likely be Democrats (I predicted it several months ago) no matter what desperate measures Limbaugh and the rest of the conservative propagandists will go to.

Try not to soil the furniture, we (your bosses, the taxpayers) have to pay for all that.
